Before driving abroad
In some European states that are not members of the European Union, as well as in countries of other continents, the Greek (European communities) driving license does not apply so you need an international driving license (IDP) to drive your car or some rented. Old Greek driving license holders (paper pink or green) require an international driving license due to the non -indication of Latin characters in it. In Greece, Hatse (Hellenic Automobile Touring Services Club) is now responsible.

Important information
The International Driving Permit is not issued electronically and is a supplementary/accompanying document to the valid Driving Permit issued by the Greek Authorities and does not replace it. It cannot be issued if you do not own an original and valid driving license. It is only valid if you have your driving license with you and it is valid.
